The editorial that ran this week didn't mince words: It made a clear call for the Sacramento county planning advisory board to approve the development, also known as Orangevale Cohousing. It called out the one "swing vote" boardmember by name, urging her to do the right thing and bemoaning the delay in the project and praising its environmental and community benefits.
"Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan is the linchpin here. If she allows the Stoppers to stop Sycamore Village, it will be another setback for the region's efforts to contain sprawl by encouraging new housing in established areas. She and other supervisors need to send a clear message that co-housing would be an asset for Orangevale, and for the entire region."
The cohousing group has not been deterred, pushing on with additional events including a slide show with architect Katie McCamant in nearby Fair Oaks.
