The "Caboose" as we fondly call it, is 399 sq ft, has a bedroom, living room, full bath, kitchen with small breakfast nook and lots of light. It has full size appliances including a dishwasher and microwave, propane central heat and 12' ceilings.

Beautiful covered wood porch with storage underneath, lovely, private garden outside. $800/mo plus utilities for a single person, $850 per mo. for a couple. First months rent plus a $850 deposit is required to move in. Personal and professional references required.

La Tierra is a "co-housing style" community located on 15 acres,2 miles west of downtown Sebastopol (a bike ride away.) We are aprox.16 people. We formed in 1989 and have been successfully thriving for 18 years now as a multi-generational co-housing community. In honor of our desire to continue living in a multi-generational community we are currently looking for a female tenant or couple in their 20-40's to move in with us. However, no one will be turned away without due consideration.

Each adult at La Tierra cooks for all of us aprox. 1x per mo. We share community dinner at 7 pm Monday – Thurs. evenings. There are usually around 16 adults living here. Therefore, each adult cooks once per cycle. We find that dinners are a time for us to connect and relax with each other. If you are committed Mon-Thurs evenings or don't want to cook, please do not apply for this rental. We are committed to eating organic food and attempt to buy food that is grown as locally as possible.

We have extensive flower, berry and vegetable gardens, a large orchard, chickens, bees, vermiculture, swimming pool, community room/workshop space, wood working shop, hot tub, laundry room, DSL, shared tools and resources, 60% of the community's utilities are solar powered.

We really appreciate gardeners and handy, resourceful people who are interested in growing food, beauty and a healthy moving-towards-sustainability lifestyle.

The community requires 5 hours of community work/service per mo. and attendance at the monthly meeting which happens in the morning on the 2nd Sunday of each month followed by a collective work day. If you are currently committed on the 2nd Sunday of the month (on a regular basis) please do not apply for this rental.We also have community counsels 3-4 x per year and attendance is required.
